Kathmandu, December 13. The United Democratic Madheshi Front has turned down the Nepali Congress proposal on pushing forward the Constitution Amendment Bill and the Reconstruction Authority Bill together.
This came during Sunday’s talks between the NC and leaders of UDMF constituent Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party.
The parleys had taken place at Congress President Sushil Koirala’s residence.
Trilatera talks regarding the Madhesh Movement are taking place at 1.30 pm on Sunday. UDMF, which had been obstructing the Parliament meetings, had agreed on Thursday to not block the process of endorsing the RAB.
But then the Congress obstructed the Parliament immediately, demanding that the amendment bill be forwarded together with the reconstruction authority bill.
The main opposition has demanded that the government clarify the reason behind removal of the amendment bill from the House’s business. It is for pushing both the bills together.
On its part, the UDMF has said the amendment proposal is unacceptable, while it has pledged to help with passage of the RAB. The front has said it will obstruct House meetings if the government forwards both the bills together.
