Kathmandu, December 18. The constitution amendment bill recently tabled in Parliament addresses the demands of the Madhesh, Bishnu Rimal, Prime Minister’s principal political adviser says.
In an interview with Online Khabar, Rimal said, “The Madheshi morcha wanted proportional inclusive provision (in all organs of state), and they wanted electoral constituencies to be formed taking population into account. All these issues have been incorporated in the amendment bill.”
Rimal said that some of the demands of the Morcha have already been met, and others would be met soon. “Even after all this, if they do not withdraw the blockade, the government will have to take administrative measures to remove the obstructions.”
All sides should be willing to reach a compromise on the revision of provincial boundaries, he said, adding that the government has agreed to revise the boundaries by forming a political committee. “The Morha should also take a step backward so that a compromise is reached.”
